About Wanaka
Nestled at the foot of the world heritage listed Mount Aspiring National Park, Wanaka, is a genuine alpine resort town that is a short walk to the shores of Lake Wanaka and and views of snow-capped mountains.
It is regarded as one of the world’s most amazing travel destinations with pristine volcanic lakes, soaring mountain ranges, ancient glaciers, and lots of shopping, cafes, restaurants and bars. It doesn’t have the tourist hype seen in Queenstown, and Wanaka still manages to retain the feel of a relaxed alpine town.
It is the perfect staging ground to the best skiing and snowboarding that New Zealand has to offer, in Cardrona and Treble Cone. If snow sports is not your thing, visitors can also enjoy other activities such as walking, hiking and biking. Additionally, there are Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries to visit.
